This conference is organised by the SFHA to provide housing association and co-operative voluntary committee and board members with an effective opportunity to share information with each other and to hear about major policy and other developments in the housing field.

This year has been a particularly challenging one to date, with the Scottish Social Housing Charter and changes to the Regulatory Framework putting a sharp focus on the replenishment of voluntary committees and boards.

The Scottish Government is also looking at new ways to fund development and new systems for housing, all in the context of a period of austerity and a squeeze on public spending. We also have the reforms to welfare benefits and introduction of Universal Credit and direct payments to tenants.

This year's programme is an excellent mix of sector leaders and professional experts and ensuring that housing associations and co-operatives are armed with the knowledge and skills they need to square up to the many challenges facing the sector, including re-examining their role within their communities and continuing to promote the good work done by Scottish housing associations and co-operatives.

Courtesy buses will run from Glasgow and Edinburgh to Peebles at the start and end of the conference.
